11 July to be listed in calendar of important dates

Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro must list the 11 July in the calendar of important dates, since it is a synonym of the Yugoslav tragedy in the period between 1991 and 2001, said one of the Bosniak Forum’s founders Rifat Rastoder.

Delegation of the Bosniak Forum laid on Thursday flowers to the victims of Srebrenica and other civil victims killed in Former Yugoslavia at the Memorial complex in Pobrezje.

Rastoder said that 11 July is the synonym of genocide against more than 8,000 civilians in Srebrenica, as well as the whole Yugoslav tragedy that happened from 1991 to 2001.

“In particular because among the hundreds of thousands of victims of that tragedy were several hundred Montenegrin citizens and those born in Montenegro, who lived in other Yugoslav republics”, said he.

He reiterated that the parliament adopted the declaration which confirmed the European resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica on 9 July 2009, but added that nothing permanent was done after that act was adopted.

Honorary president of the Social Democratic Party Ranko Krivokapic said that the fact that this date is marked in Montenegro by an NGO is a proof that the country does not want to face this issue.
