Deflation rate at 0.9 percent in September

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The monthly deflation rate in Montenegro, measured by the harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP), was at the level of 0.9 percent in September.

According to Monstat, the consumer prices, measured by HICP, were 1.7 percent higher on average compared with the same period of 2017.

The Statistical Office says that the monthly inflation rate was predominantly influenced by a decrease in the prices of accommodation services, tobacco, vegetables, fruit, dentistry services,  and textile products for households,” says a press release issued by the Statistical Office.

Across the main groups, the monthly decrease in prices was registered for alcoholic beverages and tobacco, hotels and restaurants, food and non-alcoholic beverages, healthcare, communications and recreation and culture.

The monthly increase was registered for the prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel, other goods and services, and transport.

There were no significant changes in the prices of other products and services.
