€430 million to be invested in development of northern region

Podgorica, (MINA) – The government will invest €430 million this year in development of the North of Montenegro, said Prime Minister Dusko Markovic, adding that 50 construction sites are currently active in that part of the country.

He answered to the questions of Ervin Ibrahimovic, member of the Ethnic minority parties parliamentary club, if the government planned concrete measures with the aim of advancing quality of services and more efficient exercising of the rights to the citizens from the northern region.

MArkovic said that the plan is to invest round €90 million more this year, or €430 million, and added that there are currently 50 active construction sites in the north.

He said that, regarding agriculture, more than 50% of the non-refundable support funds out of the last year’s agrobudget were directed towards the north.

Speaking about the need for improving administration in the North, Markovic expressed belief that the existing administration at all levels is more than sufficient even for bigger states than Montenegro.

The solution to the objective needs of the citizens, the Prime Minister underlined, should not be sought in additional administration, but in raising the efficiency of the existing system.
