Foreign trade exchange increases

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to the preliminary statistics released by Monstat, Montenegro’s total foreign trade exchange amounted to €1.68 billion in the first seven months, up 13.8 percent year-on-year.

The export amounted to a total of €229.1 million in the first seven months, up 15.8 percent year-on-year, while the import increased by 13.5 percent to €1.46 billion.

“The value of export accounted for 15.7 percent of the import value and it is higher than in the same period last year,” says a press release issued by the Statistical Office.

According to the statistics, most of the export that took place in this period included ferrous metal, worth €44.8 million, and iron and steel, worth €12.5 million.

The largest share in the import was that of vehicles, worth €111.8 million, and electrical machines and equipment, worth €75 million.

Most of the goods Montenegro exported went to Serbia, Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina, while most of the import to Montenegro came from Serbia, China and Germany.

Most of the foreign trade exchange has been done with parties to the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) and with the European Union.
