GDP growth up to 3.2 percent

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to the projections of the Central Bank (CBCG), the gross domestic product is expected to see growth ranging between 2.5 percent and 3.2 percent.

At today’s meeting, the CBCG Council adopted the Bank’s macroeconomic report for the last year.

“According to the report, last year was characterized by positive trends, which is evident from the economic growth rate estimated at 4.9 percent. The intensified activities related to large infrastructure development projects in the civil engineering and energy sectors, processing industry growth and a strong increase in the number of tourists resulted in such a high GDP growth rate,” says a press release issued by the CBCG.

The number of working people has increased, while the number of unemployed ones declined. The budget deficit has been estimated at €159.2 million or 3.4 percent of GDP, resulting from the capital budget spending, i.e. implementation of the infrastructure projects.

The report says that the public debt is on an upward trajectory, adding however that the fiscal consolidation measures are seen as positive.

According to the report, the economic growth will continue to be driven by tourism, energy and civil engineering.
