Important issues should be solved through multilateral cooperation

Podgorica, (MINA) – The Munich Security Conference has shown that awareness has been raised that important issues can only be solved through multilateral cooperation, which will create opportunities for the participation of all countries, including Montenegro, President Milo Djukanovic has stated.

Djukanovic told the press in Munich that this year the Munich Conference managed to bring together numerous highly credible stakeholders.

“One of the important issues that captured our attention was the European Union’s position in the current political and security context on the global scene, but also many other issues whose resolution dictates the stability and prosperity of every part of the globe,” Djukanovic said.

The Montenegrin President said that the conference was also an opportunity for multiple bilateral meetings, adding that his attention was focused on communication with neighboring countries.

He remarked that the Western Balkans is facing it specific problems, adding that one of the major issues has been successfully resolved thanks to the good political will in Skopje and Athens.

“We still have two problems, including the non-functional Bosnia and Herzegovina and the halt in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina,” Djukanovic said.

According to him, the latter question was a topic of a special panel in the Munich Security Conference.

“Which means that the EU is now shifting its focus on that issue, with a view to securing the continuation of a dialogue that would bring a good solution, such as the one reached by Macedonia and Greece,” Djukanovic added.
