Montenegro committed to NATO policies, Defense Minister says

Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro remains determined to implement NATO policies, since the unity of all Allies represents a major precondition for preserving the security of their citizens and territories from any possible threat, Defense Minister Predrag Boskovic has stated.

Boskovic is taking part in this year’s first meeting of the North Atlantic Council at the level of defense minister, taking place in Brussels on 13-14 February.

According to a press release from the Defense Ministry, the meeting focuses on the key challenges to international security, having in mind the need for integrated and compressive response to such challenges.

Speaking about the readiness and capability of the Alliance to adjust to the needs of a changed security environment, Boskovic is said to have welcomed the progress made in adapting NATO’s command structure, as a way of providing a more rapid response to all kinds of potential challenges.

Boskovic announced that this year Montenegro will increase its contribution to the new structure.

“He recalled that, late last year, our country deployed a scout unit to the multinational battlegroup in Latvia, as a token of contribution to the Enhanced Forward Presence in the east, which will continue to be our practice in the coming period,” the press release stated.
