Montenegro dubbed credible partner in Alliance

Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro is making progress in reforms and is a credible partner to the Alliance, said Prime Minister Dusko Markovic.

During the meeting with Dutch Ambassador Hendrik van der Dol, he said that Montenegro, as a NATO member, proved to be a credible partner contributing to common values and remains strongly committed to achieving further progress in particular in the rule of law.

“We want to join the EU once the requirements are met, and show that we are credible and that a new value is added by Montenegro’s accession. But it is important that Europe strengthens its enlargement policy, make it unquestionable and send a unambiguous message that there is no united Europe without the Western Balkans”, said the PM.

He stressed the positive presence of Dutch company Damen in Montenegro and expressed expectation that more Dutch businessmen will invest in Montenegro.

Van der Dol said that Montenegro has achieved great progress although certain challenges remain.

“The further Montenegro is towards the EU, the tasks will become harder. But the Netherlands is there to help”, said the Ambassador.

According to the government’s press release, the meeting also discussed the situation in the region and importance of continuation of European and Euro Atlantic integration in the context of peace, stability and prosperity in the Balkans.Longer version of article is available on a link MINA ENGLISH SERVIS
