Protesters call for Djukanovic’s and Markovic’s resignation

Podgorica, (MINA) – Organizers of the civic protest rally that took place in Podgorica on Saturday demanded the resignation of President Milo Djukanovic, Prime Minister Dusko Markovic, Supreme State Prosecutor Ivica Stankovic and Chief Special Prosecutor Milivoje Katnic.

The rally, which was staged under slogan ‘97000 – Resist!’, which gathered several thousands of people, also called for the resignation of Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency Sreten Radonjic, while citizens were invited to get involved in formulating specific demands and actions.

The protest started as people gathered outside the Supreme State Prosecutor’s Office and the procession then went past state institutions and the headquarters of the Democratic Party the Socialists.

At the beginning of the rally, civic activist Dzemal Perovic stated that there is no healthy tissue’ within the government.

“They have no healthy tissue. The only healthy tissue in the Montenegrin society is here tonight,” Perovic stressed.

He said that the things that are happening in Montenegro are not to be found in any normal European country.

Actor Slavisa Grubisa said that freedom ‘has no price and is not for sale’.

He stressed that the protesters demand urgent resignations of Djukanovic, Markovic, Stankovic, Katnic and Radonjic.

“Those are our initial demands. We invite citizens to get actively involved in formulating other demands,” Grubisa stated.

The protest rally ended without any incidents and the next one is scheduled for next Saturday.
