Seventy-three percent of imagining completed

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to the Montenegro Hydrocarbon Administration, the Shearwater’s ship for 3D seismic imaging, Polar Empress, has covered 73 percent of the planned offshore area.

“Since the beginning of 3D imaging on 19 November, the ship covered around 900 square kilometers of the total area of Montenegrin offshore blocks four, five, nine and ten,” says a press release issued by the Administration.

The press release says that there were no problems or delays in the 3D imaging in this period.

“All environmental protection measures and monitoring of the related parameters have been carried out in line with the Environmental Impact Assessment Study,” the press release says.

The licensed marine mammal and sea turtle observers on board of Polar Empress have not registered any changes so far indicating negative impact of the 3D imaging on biodiversity of the sea.

The Administration says that, weather permitting, seismic imaging of the offshore area will take 34 days.

The imaging, commissioned by the concessionaires Eni and Novatek, is carried out by Shearwater, in line with a concession agreement for hydrocarbon exploration and production.
