Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to the preliminary statistics released by Monstat, Montenegro’s total foreign trade exchange amounted to €617.5 million in the first three months, up 3.5 percent year on year.
The export amounted to a total of €93.7 million in this period, down 0.6 percent year on year, while the import increased by 4.3 percent to €523.8 million.
“The value of export accounted for 17.9 percent of the import value and is lower than in the same period last year,” says a press release issued by the Statistical Office.
According to the statistics, most of the export that took place in this period included ferrous metal, worth €16.8 million, and iron and steel, worth €6.3 million.
The largest share in the import was that of vehicles, worth €42 million, and electrical machines and equipment, worth €22 million.
Most of the goods Montenegro exported went to Serbia, Hungary and the Bosnia and Herzegovina, while most of the import to Montenegro came from Serbia, Germany and China.
Most of the foreign trade exchange has been done with parties to the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) and with the European Union.
