Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Employees of the Port of Bar have submitted a request to the Government, calling on it to publicly, formally, and unequivocally state whether the company will remain a majority state-owned enterprise and to present a concrete investment plan.

The request was signed by 451 of the company's 490 employees.

“The reason for addressing the Government is the Memorandum of Understanding with Abu Dhabi Ports, as well as public claims that the case of the Port of Bar does not involve privatization, a sale or a change of ownership, but investments only,” the Port of Bar Trade Union said in a press release.

For this reason, employees are demanding that the Government remove any doubt and clearly communicate its true intentions regarding the Port of Bar.

“If the Government genuinely does not plan privatization, a sale, a concession, a change in ownership structure or any other model that would result in the loss of the state’s controlling interest, then there is no reason to remain silent about it. On the contrary, it is obliged to communicate this immediately and clearly to employees and the public,” the union said.
